Level of Awareness about HIV/AIDS among People Living in Galmudug, Somalia: A Cross-Sectional Study

INTRODUCTION: Around the world, HIV/AIDS infects nearly half of all victims AIDS-related illnesses. In Somalia, 10,500 persons are thought to be living with HIV/AIDS. A 500-person estimate children who HIV-positive is also available. According estimates, only 35% go ART centres for their medicine due lack awareness. Therefore, this study was designed assess level awareness about among people in Galmudug, Somalia. MATERIALS AND METHODS: cross-sectional design used degree HIV and AIDS residents The population consisted reproductive-aged males females (15 45 years old), respondents were drawn using a purposive sampling technique. structured questionnaire developed collect information by interview method. descriptive inferential statistical analysis performed IBM SPSS version 25 software. RESULTS: This found that most Somalians had moderate-to-adequate knowledge (57.8%), whereas 42.2% poor knowledge. total 274 (78.3%) samples showed attitude toward HIV/AIDS, while 76 (21.7%) displayed positive disease. An association between marital status (χ2 = 10.07, p< 0.05) education 29.55, relation towards demographic variables (marital status, age, occupation, education) significantly associated. CONCLUSIONS: community needs provide factual precise through aggressive door-to-door campaigns on prevalence virus.
